Terrasse de Chiroubles 4

La Terrasse

With the success of the "Estivales" during july and august, the site has taken on another dimension.
Gabion stands (stones put in fences forming a cage) have been created...
The parking has been extended to prevent that the both sides of the Avenas's road were use for parking from Fonds-Bateaux to the houses of Potet!

Sentier des Crus

From La Terrasse a path leads to the ridge. Ten stations present the various Cru du Beaujolais wines. The signs are placed in the direction of the ten villages with bell towers in the distance. A walk of about 2 km round trip to soak up the landscape.

Path and Children's play area

Come on... it’s the same path that leaves from the Maison du Cru to the northeast. We go 900 m and we arrive a rocky promontory with a clearing behind it, converted into a playground, finally, something to keep the children busy, even if the rocks to climb in this corner are not bad for that either. If we continue we go down - strongly - towards the col de Durbize.

The Orientation Table

Not to forget the superb orientation table that details the panorama . It is, as it should be, enamelled lava from Volvic - Atelier Seurat in St-Martin near Riom (Puy-de-Dôme). Painted and enamelled in 1951 by J. Roche, ceramist, it was "donated" by the Syndicat Viticole de Chiroubles "Le Cru Noble". She has seen tourists and walkers on its small promontory for 70 years!!!

The Telegraph Signal

And let’s not forget on the Sentier des Crus to make a small detour towards the " Memorial mast " erected at the site of the "Tour du Télégraphe Chappe" 1810-1853.
