In the heyday of the thirties, the Bellevillois, among others, went up to picnic in the meadows of Fonds-Bateaux, then enjoyed the panorama while extracting themselves thus, the time of a Sunday, at 700 m of altitude, of the suffocating moiteur of the valley of the Saône.
An unpretentious little refreshment bar was built in the 1950s by the vigrants of the "Cru Chiroubles".
The first "Buvette" - circa 1956
Then the small refreshment bar was quickly enlarged,
At the simple initial bar counter was added a room with tables and chairs in its extension with a two -sloping roof.
A pit closed by a hatch allows you to have a somewhat cool "cellar".
And in the 1960s, a "Savoyard" chalet, a little crazy on this Beaujolaise height, was added to the place.
In a friendly atmosphere, the winemakers of Chiroubles took their "guard tower" voluntarily, Sunday after Sunday, to serve a glass of Chiroubles, accompanied by a snack, good bread from Bourgeon, the baker from Chiroubles, dry sausage from Raymond Bas, the butcher, and optionally, fresh or slightly dry goat cheese.
